Rough Rider has released a new series of knives called the Exotic Trapper series. These knives are different from the mass of traditional styled Rough Riders that are released throughout the year. This series is centered around top-tier handle materials and beautiful custom file work. Rough Rider has really made something beautiful here, and I feel like it would be a crime not to talk about their Pink Pearl Exotic Trapper.

Rough Rider Exotic Trapper - Pink Pearl

The Rough Rider Pink Pearl Trapper stands out from the pack because of its unique handle. There are plenty of companies that make pearl handled trappers, but Rough Rider uses a unique pink pearl. It has all of the depth and luster of pearl but with a vivid (and not overbearing) pink hue. The handle is five sections of pearl that are divided by nickel silver spacers. The handle is held together by embossed spacers that give the smooth handle a pleasant balance of texture. Rough Rider certainly chose this knife to make a statement that they are continuing their tradition of making elegance affordable.

The Blades of the exotic trapper are almost as crucial to the look of the Pink Pearl Trapper as the handles. Rough Rider uses 440A blades polished to a mirror finish. Because it’s a trapper, this knife is outfitted with a spey and clip point blade, which are perfect set for daily use. If you want to carry a piece of art, the Pink Pearl Exotic Trapper has the blades to take some abuse.

As a knife collector, people expect perfection in their art, and Rough Rider understands that. In the model I’ve tested for this article, the fitment of the pearl and nickel silver is nearly perfect. The file work on the back springs came out very well on this knife. The filing has clean cuts and a beautiful finish (done right by a talented smith). The springs have a good tension and close with a satisfying snap.

Overall, this knife is impressive no matter how you slice it. Rough Rider offers the Pink Pearl Exotic Trapper for only $24.99, which makes the knife even more appealing. Don’t get me wrong, collecting expensive knives is fun, but if you think I’m going to EDC a $90 trapper, you’re wrong. This knife looks great and won’t send you into bankruptcy if you lose it. I found this knife at Smoky Mountain Knife Works – smkw.com. Simply click the link below to check it out. As a side note, if you would go into bankruptcy from losing a $90 knife, you should probably seek a financial advisor.
