Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical designed the CRKT Woods Chogan T-Hawk. A specialist in applying modern engineering to centuries old tool and weapon concepts, Johnson designed a two-handed camp axe with a hickory handle, hot-forged blade, and hammer head that will make camp chores easier.

CRKT ChoganThe hot-forged 1055 carbon steel head sports a hammer finish. Hot forging is a modern process that provides a precise and flawless head every time. This perfection is key to the function of the head and its primary and secondary edge bevels. These bevels have a flat grind and cut through timber like a beaver. The back of the axe has a hammer head design. The blunt face is useful for driving nails and dowels into wood or driving tent stakes into the ground.

The Woods Chogan T-Hawk features a two-handed handle design. This allows you to get more leverage and power from your swing. The Tennessee hickory handle is strong enough to let you split hardwood or drive stakes into frozen ground. To prevent damage to the wood, the wood has been lacquer-coated to protect it from the elements. Overall, the handle measures about 19 1/8″ in length. It’s a good size for splitting firewood, but not too big to carry on your belt.
