Designed by Michael Vagnino, the Kizer Vanguard Velox 2 is a discrete folder with a hidden flipper and an incredibly durable build. It’s neither flashy nor scary for the non-knife-carrying crowd. It’s a mid-sized pocket knife available at the mid-sized price of about $80.

One of the coolest things about this knife is the hidden flipper. Once you open the knife, the flipper tucks into the frame, creating one smooth profile that’s unobstructed by a flipper sticking out. Even when it’s closed, the flipper tab doesn’t stick out a ton. You might think this would make the opening difficult, but you’d be wrong. Between the perfect placement and the ball bearing pivot system the opening is just as fast and smooth as it gets.

The 3-1/3” satin finished drop point is made from VG-10 steel which means it holds its edge well and is very corrosion resistant. The handles are durable and slip resistant G-10. They’re available in either forest green or black. Finally, the Velox 2 has an ambidextrous tip-up pocket clip.
