The price has dropped to a budget friendly $25 for the CRKT Ruger RTD. Designed by Matthew Lerch, this knife has a ton of features including the Ken Onion designed Field Strip technology. For a quick refresher on the awesomeness of Matthew Lerch, he’s the designer of the CRKT Flat Out, the Up and At ‘Em, Moxie, and the Hyperspeed amongst others. He’s also the inventor and patent holder for CRKT’s FireSafe technology.
Ruger tells us that “[t]he RTD is named for and inspired by the Ruger 10/22 Takedown” which is widely renowned for being incredibly easy to disassemble and reassemble. This means the Field Strip technology by Ken Onion is a perfect fit for this knife because it allows a ridiculously fast break down and an equally fast set up… once you get the hang of it.
This flipper features a 3.67” 1.4116 clip point blade with a black coating and a blade thickness of 0.125”. There’s a slight finger choil and jimping along the spine.
The handles on this manual folder are a textured glass reinforced nylon with a fair amount of slip resistance. There’s also jimping along the backspacer, the linerlock, and the flipper of this knife for even more slip resistance. It also has a right carry, tip-up pocket clip. It’s 4.853” and weighs 3.9 ounces.
