We don’t often write about high end knives but the Heretic ADV Butcher is a seriously cool knife and upgraded materials. The pattern is the result of a collaboration between Andre de Villiers and Heretic Knives to turn the insanely popular ADV Butcher into a push-button, out-the-side automatic. The model we handled was the Maker’s Choice version and man alive is it sweet.
The Heretic ADV Butcher features an upgraded, hand finished 4” San Mei modified sheepsfoot blade. The hollow ground blade is about 0.18” thick and it’s about 1.25” wide. There’s jimping along the spine, a fuller, and multiple grinds that give it a fantastic look.
On the original version of the Heretic ADV Butcher Auto, they used aluminum handles but on this version it’s all titanium with frag pattern carbon fiber inserts. Both the titanium pivot and button have been anodized giving this knife a great color accent. It comes with a tip-up roller ball clip and lanyard hole. It’s 5” closed and weighs about 7 ounces.
