Spyderco ProvinceWhen you think of Spyderco, you don’t think of large fixed blade knives, but the Spyderco Province is exactly that – a large fixed blade knife. It’s over a foot long and looks like a Bowie knife that was parked outside the Today Show and got lucky enough to be selected for a modern makeover. Yes, there should be “oohs” and “ahhhs” at the final result.

The Spyderco Province was designed by Jim Ankerson and Darrin Sanders and features a 6.8″ Bowie style blade with a satin finish.  Spyderco tells us that the, “Bowie-style blade is machined from CPM 4V, a particle metallurgy tool steel enriched with vanadium and molybdenum for high-caliber strength, edge retention, and toughness.” It’s full tang construction and high-flat grind balance both strength and edge geometry. And, of course, it has the trademark round hole.

Spyderco ProvinceThe Province’s handles are G-10. They’re contoured to fit comfortably in hand while safeguarding the fingers from such a big blade. The scales are triple screwed for durability, and the butt end of the knife features a lanyard tube.

Spyderco tells us the Province is, “Ideally suited for survival, camping, and other demanding applications.” It also comes with a black, welted leather belt sheath.
