CRKT Mossback HunterIf you’re looking for an affordable fixed blade, the CRKT Mossback Hunter is a solid choice. This full tang, carbon steel fixed blade is one of CRKT’s closeouts this year and it’s an especially attractive deal for $25 or less.

The Mossback Hunter features a 3.19” SK5 drop point blade with a blade thickness of 0.12” and a 57-58 HRC. SK5 has a similar composition to the classic 1080 carbon steel which means it’s easy to sharpen and can take a razor-sharp edge. There’s jimping along the spine for slip resistance. CRKT tells us, “Use it with an inverted hold and you’ll find the drop point blade is big enough for all North American game. Yet you can also cap it with your finger while dressing.”

Far from being a strictly hunting knife, the Mossback Hunter could also make a nice daily carry. It has G-10 handle scales that give it a nice and non-threatening look. A light weight and an overall length of 7.25” makes this a good, all-around choice.
