Designed by Robert Young Pelton and handmade by LionSTEEL in Maniago, Italy, the DPx HEST II is a small knife designed for brutal use and infinite practicality. Noted journalist, author, and documentarian Robert Young Pelton is no stranger to conflict torn areas. He has designed the ultimate low-profile knife that combines concealability with utility.
This knife is a TiCN PVD coated 3.15” drop point made from Niolox tool steel with a flat grind. It has an astronomical HRC rating of 61 and a blade thickness of 0.19”. On the spine of the blade is bottle opener, and the substantial jimping doubles as wire strippers.
Just the substantial choil is a ¼” hex driver. At the butt end of the knife, there’s a pry bar.
The grip is remarkably comfortable on this beefy knife. Additionally, at only 4.8 ounces it’s lighter than you might think.
The handle is hollow which allows for storage of survival gear and such. The grips come in a variety of choices, depending on the model you choose. There’s the standard G-10 grip model, and a version with a with a paracord wrap. The paracord models include G-10 scales with all the requisite hardware necessary to attach them. There is also a limited edition version which has Brazilian Santos hardwood scales which elevates this tactical knife to a thing of beauty.
All models of the HEST II Assault come a steath. The limited edition version has a Italian made leather sheath. The standard models come with a Cordura sheath with a Kydex insert.
