At 9″ overall, the SOG SEAL Team’s baby brother, the SEAL Pup isn’t a baby at all. It’s 4.5″ powder-coated, partially serrated clip point blade is made of rock hard, .19″ thick, AUS-8 steel.
“[The] SEAL Pup has a partially serrated blade that is powder coated for low-reflection and corrosion resistance. Its lightweight, glass-reinforced nylon (GRN) handle features a raised diamond pattern for secure gripping in inclement weather.” ~ SOG
Like many of the knives in the SOG line, the SEAL Pup’s blade has undergone cryogenic heat treatment. As SOG tells us, “[our] unique cryogenic heat treatment process slowly decreases the knife temperature to -300 F, then brings it back up to room temperature again. This process relieves the blade material on an atomic level, resulting in an overall increase in toughness and heightened wear-resistance. Additionally, knife edges stay sharper longer and demonstrate a significant decrease in micro-fracturing and edge-chipping.”
