Ka-bar teams with Jesse Jarosz again, this time to create a larger knife, the Ka-bar Jarosz Choppa. The Jarosz Choppa is 15″ overall and for all practical purposes, it’s a machete. The 1095 Cro-Van steel blade on this knife is nearly 10″ long and comes with an epoxy powder coating that helps to prevent corrosion. At 3/16″ thick, this is a hefty knife that can really get the job done.
The ergonomic Ultramid® molded handles keep the knife light and feel good in your hand. As Jesse says in the video, “you can really use [the Jarosz Choppa] for an extended period of time and not feel any hot spots.” We agree. We played with the Jarosz Choppa for a couple of hours yesterday and the handles produced no areas of irritation like you might get from using a standard machete.
We truly like the balance of the Jarosz Choppa. Jesse seems to manage balance well with his designs, and in a knife this big, balance is key. We experienced no unnecessary fatigue that is associated with a poorly balanced knife.
We’ve lost count of the number of collaborations Nebraska native, Jesse Jarosz has with Ka-bar, but we hope they continue. His skills as a knife designer are a perfect fit with the Ka-bar brand.
