It’s nice to have a knife that you don’t mind abusing or losing. At $9.99, you can use, abuse, and never be afraid to lose, the Smith & Wesson Special Tactical Linerlock. It’s no Benchmade or ZT, but if you’re looking for an everyday beater, you can get ten of these and throw them in a drawer.
This entry level knife is perfect for daily tasks like cutting plastic packaging, tape, or cardboard. The Special Tactical Linerlock isn’t the best knife out there, but it gets the job done.
This knife features a tanto blade that’s good for cutting through thick materials. The 7Cr17MoV stainless steel blade features a satin finish. For a harder steel like 7Cr1MoV, it’s recommended that you use a diamond sharpener. This makes it easy to sharpen and hold an edge when used hard. The knife is fairly easy to open one-handed with just a simple pull on the flipper. It’s not going to be as smooth as a Reate or CRKT, but it does flip open easily. Overall, it’s a decent blade with decent action for the price.
This knife features zytel handles. This polymer is incredibly durable and can really hold up to use and abuse. The zytel features a diamond pattern that includes the S&W logo. It appears to have good grip properties and fit well in the hand. This knife comes with steel liners that support the zytel and includes a linerlock mechanism.
