The new Buck Inertia Linerlock is fast, smooth, and powerful. The Inertia Linerlock is the latest knife in Buck’s spring-assist series. It features their Inertia spring technology that opens the blade almost effortlessly. It also features a modern and secure lock system for extra safety when carried. Buck says, “It’s a heavy-duty knife with an elegant look and the practicality you’ll love.” We couldn’t agree more.
The 420 HC stainless steel blade is the best of both worlds. It has the carbon content to resist cracking or fracturing. It’s also fairly easy to sharpen like most carbon blades, but make no mistake. It’s still stainless steel. The incredibly rust resistant 420 HC also boasts impressive edge retention.
The blade opens using what Buck calls “inertia springs.” They open the blade with just a flick of the flipper or by using the thumb hole on the blade. It’s an ambidextrous design that’s smooth and fast every time.
The glass filled nylon handles (GFN) are very modern. The molded grooves not only increase grip, they also reduce the overall weight of the knife. Glass filled nylon is quite durable and an excellent choice for those who use their knives hard.
The Inertia is a linerlock design, but that’s not the only safety lock on the knife. Buck has added a secondary lock on the spine that keeps the blade from opening unexpectedly. The lock latches onto the flipper to prevent the opening action. Once the blade is opened, the lock conveniently tucks into the handle.
I try to never leave out Buck’s Forever Warranty when I’m writing an article about them. Buck’s Forever Warranty is one of the best available on the market. Buck will cover the knife from material and workmanship defects for the life of the knife, it doesn’t even matter if you’re the original owner. If you break the knife due to misuse (If you use your knife as a screwdriver, I’m talking to you) Buck’s repair department can analyze the damage and repair it for a reasonable fee. If the knife is unable to be repaired, they will extend a one- time courtesy offer, allowing you the option to purchase a new knife for 50% off their MSRP. No matter what happens to the knife, you’ll always have an option to get it repaired or replaced.
