The Buck Apex is a smooth, versatile, one-hand opening folder designed with mountain climbers in mind. It boasts an impressive 1.76oz weight when you consider its 2 5/8″ blade length. The balance between its light weight and capable blade not only make the apex comfortable to carry, but also one you can rely on to get the job done.
The aluminum handle is fairly minimalistic, but it contains some nice features. Aluminum was an excellent choice for the handle because of its durability and resistance to corrosion. Since the Apex was designed with mountain climbers in mind, both of these factors were essential to the design. It has a frame lock mechanism for maximum strength and confidence when using it for heavy cutting. The base of the handle features a carabiner and a pocket clip that can quickly attach to your belt-loop, rig, pack, or really anything. This keeps the knife secure and within arm’s reach without a sheath taking up a room on your kit.
The 420 high carbon blade is a type of stainless steel. This steel is easier to sharpen in the field than other stainless steel on the market. The drop point blade is a full bellied design for heavier tasks. The top of the blade drops down toward the tip, which minimizes accidental puncturing while skinning. The drop point blade is strong and very versatile, which is perfect for EDC or outdoor use.
The Apex comes with Buck’s Forever Warranty, it’s one of the best available on the market. Buck will cover the knife from material and workmanship defects for the life of the knife, it doesn’t even matter if you’re the original owner. If you break the knife due to misuse (If you use your knife as a screwdriver, I’m talking to you) Buck’s repair department can analyze the damage and repair it for a reasonable fee. If the knife is unable to be repaired, they will extend a one- time courtesy offer, allowing you the option to purchase a new knife for 50% off their MSRP. No matter what happens to the knife, you’ll always have an option to get it repaired or replaced.
The Apex comes in three colors; Orange, Purple, and Black Carbon Fiber.
