The Great Eastern Cutlery Oregon Trapper is the new 2018 pattern for GEC’s family of knives. This pattern will be available under all three GEC brands including Tidioute, Northfield UN-X-LD, and Farm & Field.
Founded in 2006, and relatively new to the traditional pocket knife scene, Great Eastern Cutlery has taken the knife industry by storm and produced some wildly popular and incredibly collectible knives. We expect the Oregon Trapper pattern will perform just as well.
The knives in the Oregon Trapper pattern have an outstanding fit and finish, as well as an outstanding look and feel. They are a little bigger than a you expect from a traditional pocket knife but they are still a remarkably easy carry. The longer slicing edge is great, because sometimes you just need that extra bit of length to get the job done.
Each GEC Oregon Trapper is made from polished 1095 carbon steel with a 3.375” clip point blade. The opening mechanism is with a standard nail pull. Additionally, each knife in this pattern features half stops and a lanyard hole. Finally, each knife comes shipped in a stylish retro cardboard tube and then the knife itself is rolled and wrapped in wax paper.
The first knife we’re going to look at is the Tidioute Oregon Trapper with Rust Red Jigged Bone handles. This gorgeous knife is the “Pattern Production Premiere” knife in the Oregon Trapper pattern and as such, has the circled three P’s engraved on the handle. What that means is this was the very first knife Great Eastern Cutlery produced in the Oregon Trapper pattern. This limited production knife is highly collectible.
