The insanely popular Ontario Knife Company Rat II is virtually synonymous with excellent value knives. We can see why. The blade is sharp out of the box. It takes and holds a nice edge. The thumb stud opening mechanism is smooth, and the lock up is reliable.
The 3” drop point blade is made from AUS-8 with either a satin finish or a black coating. It has an HRC rating of 55-56. On the back of the spine is some nice jimping, which is excellent if you need to switch up your grip.
This version of the OTK Rat II does not have the secondary locking system. It does have the Nylon-6 grip, which is rugged enough to help with slip resistance but won’t wear out your hands during any extended use.
Finally, this knife is fully ambidextrous with dual thumb studs and a fully reversible pocket clip. It also has a lanyard hole. The Rat II is built for you to carry your knife your way.
