Designed to be affordable mid-range knives, the new USA made Buck Pursuit knives are actually quite excellent. Buck tells us, “A multi-purpose alternative to traditional hunting knives, the Pursuit Series fills the need for a mid-range hunting knife designed from the beginner to the experienced, serious hunter.”
What makes this series so outstanding? It doesn’t matter what size grip you have. The handles are both comfortable and incredibly slip resistant. Even better? You can get most of the knives in this series for less than $60.
The glass-filled nylon handles on these knives have an almost, but not quite rubberized Versaflex overmold which makes them incredibly comfortable without the slightest hint of the potential gumminess of many rubberized knives. Not only that, they’re contoured for comfort and basically slip resist no matter how – or where – you hold it. There’s numerous cutouts and tons of recessed jimping which adds friction without creating hot spots.
Each knife in this series has a satin finished 420HC drop point with Buck’s legendarily excellent heat treat. Full tang constructed for durability, there’s also jimping on the swedged spine which adds even more slip resistance to a variety of grips.
Although there will be a total of six knives in this series, they are only available in the 656 Large Drop Point, the 657 Large Gut Hook, and 658 Small Drop Point fixed blade iterations right now. Finally, these knives come with a black polyester sheath with green trim and a belt loop attachment.
