The new Gerber Tri-Tip Mini Cleaver is Gerber’s take on the popular cleaver and it is outstanding. For a knife with an overall length of just under six inches, this beefy bad boy is built to be an affordable, versatile beater.
The Tri-Tip is full tang constructed with a blade thickness of about 3/16″ and features a 3″ 7Cr17MoV cleaver blade with either a stonewash or black coated finish. The uses for this knife are almost endless. The beveled, leading edge functions as a chisel and the bottom, fine edge slices and chops. It’s just as useful around the house as it is at the tailgate or around the camp.
The textured aluminum handle scales are an easy three-finger grip, maybe four if you use the lanyard hole for attachments. The multi-mount sheath is set up for either tip-down or scout carry. We really like the sheath on this knife. It not only securely locks your knife in place, but it’s easy to unlock by simply pushing down on the locking tab.
