Microtech has rolled out a few new exciting designs for 2019. Among an automatic karambit and a money clip-styled out the front auto, there is the new Microtech Dirac. This auto is fitted with a dagger blade and features a new position for the opening slide. It’s pocket-friendly, fast, and we dig it. Let’s see what it’s all about.
The Dirac features a 2.92″ double edged CTS-204P stainless steel dagger with a stonewash finish. The double-action “cover firing slider” functions like other Microtech thumb slides, but this time around it is located on the face of the handle. That’s a first for Microtech, and it feels like the action is a touch smoother and easier.
The slim aluminum handle is similar in design to the Microtech H.A.L.O. with curvy lines for an amazing grip and slightly different feel. It has Microtech’s proprietary hardware and a glass-breaker pommel for emergencies, and a tip-down pocket clip lets the Dirac ride deep in the pocket until it’s needed.
At a 7.25″ overall length, it’s similar in size to the Microtech UTX 85, so any fan of that knife will have no problem getting used to this one. Like Microtech states, it’s “just right for an everyday knife.”
