Designed by Caleb Cooper, the serialized limited-edition Buck 039 Salient is a beautiful straight razor that combines modern knifemaking techniques with old world style. This is a limited production of 250 handcrafted pieces.
The Buck 039 Salient features a satin finished 2.75” RWL 34 razor blade. In case you’re unfamiliar with RWL 34, it’s comparable to 154CM but with a touch more vanadium. It balances sharpening ease with edge retention and corrosion resistance. The result is a razor that both takes an edge fairly easy and holds it for longer than you’d expect. There’s jimping along the shoulder and shank to increase slip resistance. The tang is a touch longer and more curved than you’d typically see on a very old straight razor. This is great because it much easier to manipulate than many older models.
The contoured polished ironwood handles are beautiful. Rather than a pinned pivot and handles, they’re screwed in which makes it easier to maintain and allows the user to adjust the tension. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and Buck’s iconic limited-edition collector’s box. It’s 6.125” closed and weighs 2.2 ounces.
