The Buck 285 Bantam Viper is the latest model to hit the Buck Bantam BLW lineup. It’s a straightforward, full-sized EDC with a good action and an interesting look. It’s a lightweight lockback you pick up for about $20.
The Viper features a 3.13” 420HC drop point blade with a blade thickness of 0.12”. It has a swedged spine which not only adds a nice look to the blade, it adds flexibility to the tip. It has a smooth, controlled thumb stud opening and locks up with a sturdy lockback.
The handle scales on this budget friendly workhorse are a snakeskin textured glass-reinforced nylon. They have a great grip with just enough slip resistance to keep things easy. It has a tip-up pocket clip and generous lanyard hole. At 4.375” closed and weighing 2.4 ounces, this is a full-sized knife that rides easy on your pocket.
