If you’re in the market for an American-made traditional pocketknife, check out the Bear and Son Damascus Amber Jigged Bone series. It’s made in Bear’s factory located in Jacksonville, Alabama. They have some super interesting patterns. This series has three lockbacks and three slipjoints.
Each knife has genuine jigged bone handles dyed a deep, rich brown accented by nickel silver bolsters and the B&S shield. They all have Damascus blades. Bear tells us their Damascus is made with, “416 layers of medium and high carbon steel, with added nickel to magnify definition. Flexibility is superb and every Damascus blade is as distinct as a fingerprint.”
Our favorite knife in this series is the cowhand. It has all the aesthetics of a traditional knife but has all the convenience of a modern folder. The 2.875” clip point blade on this lockback smoothly opens with a generous thumb hole. It also comes with a removable, tip-up pocket clip.
This series is available in six patterns: Large Stockman, Trapper, Little Toothpick, Swing Guard Lockback, Midsize Lockback, and Cowhand Lockback. Click any thumbnail in the following gallery to launch a slideshow of larger images.
