White River tells us the White River Ursus 45 is a “no frills workhorse.” We disagree. Between the upscale materials, the gorgeous look, and the fit and finish (not to mention the nice leather sheath with the included canvas Micarta ferro rod), we see a few frills and we love them.
The Ursus 45 features a 4.5” CPM S35VN drop point blade with a 0.158” blade thickness hardened to 58-60 HRC. It has a blade width of about 1.25” with a flat grind and a 90-degree spine. It has a long slicing edge. All this makes it a great all-around utility knife that should handle just about anything you throw at it.
It’s available with either black or natural canvas micarta handle scales that are polished just enough to give it a soft feel in hand without sacrificing slip resistance. They’re contoured for comfortable extended use and have an integral finger guard for added security. The full tang has a generous lanyard hole for attachments and an exposed pommel for striking.
It comes with a leather sheath with a ferro rod loop as well as an included ferro rod. The ferro rod is about 4” overall and has a canvas micarta handle. This knife is 9.5” overall and weighs about 8.3 ounces.
