The Kershaw Airlock has an awesome look and a fast action. Kershaw tells us the Airlock is “part of Kershaw’s Starter series, designed to provide more style and more advanced features—for less money.” You can pick up this knife for about $22.
This knife features a 3” 4Cr14 stainless-steel drop point blade with a bead blast finish. 4Cr14 is a low maintenance budget steel similar to 420 with outstanding corrosion resistance that easily takes an edge. It’s a SpeedSafe Assisted flipper that, as always, has a fast and reliable action. There’s a bit of jimping along the thumb ramp for added slip resistance.
This linerlock has slim GFN (glass-filled nylon) handles with a cutout that mirrors the shape of the blade and exposes the stainless-steel liners for an interesting look. It also has a decorative black-oxide steel pivot nut and screws which contrast nicely with the ambidextrous, bead-blasted tip-up pocketclip and bead-blasted steel tube spacers. It’s 4.25” closed, 7.25” overall, and weighs about 2.9 ounces.
