Designed by Ken Onion, the CRKT Motley is a serialized, limited edition Blue Ridge exclusive. There were only 500 of these bad boys, and they were made in Italy. It’s a big, beefy modern folder with a fast action and some fabulous machining. Let’s take a look at it.
The Motley features a 3.86” Sleipner alloy steel recurved clip point blade with a blade thickness of 0.179”. CRKT tells us it was “[i]nspired by a classically tactical scimitar blade shape” and reimagined as a modern flipper. With an IKBS ball bearing pivot, the action on this knife is both fast and solidly satisfying.
The contoured titanium handles have a carbon fiber inlay with also acts as an overtravel stop on this framelock. The fit and finish on this knife is simply outstanding. Everything is flush and symmetrical with a fantastic feel to it. Although the overall look is not at all what we’d call “an incongruous mixture of elements”, it does have a seriously unique look that we just love. It’s also a knife with a seriously solid feel in hand. It has a tip-up pocket clip that’s easily changed from left to right hand carry. It’s 5.375” closed and weighs about 6.6 ounces.
