The handles on the Shard caught our eye instantly. We didn’t believe it when we read it. The handles are bead blasted, black titanium, and they’re chamfered so that the genuine copper overlay lays flush. That means you have what feels like a solid piece of metal in your hand as you hold the Shard, but in reality, you have a lightweight, premium metal handle with an overlay that will patina over time and use. It’s stunning really.
The Kansept Shard features a 3.5″ CPM-S35VN Wharncliffe blade with a stonewash finish. It’s a manual opener with both a flipper and a thumb hole for prime ambidextrous use. The ceramic ball bearing pivot system insures that the Shard glides open quickly and easily and locks into place.
It’s a framelock with a 3D-milled titanium pocket clip. The hardware varies from style to style, but on the copper and black, it’s clearly anodized to a coppery color to enhance the design.
At nearly 8″ overall, this is a full-size EDC that rides and feels like a mid-size EDC. It weighs in at just 4oz.
