Last year, Buck premiered the Buck 840 Sprint Select series. These USA-made lightweight manual folders feature the legendary Paul Bos heat treat and the Buck Forever Warranty. They also have a classic look, modern technology, and come in at an incredibly reasonable $50 price point.
This year, Buck added two new colors to this series. You have the choice of deep navy blue or medium gray GFN handles. Both knives have an almost turquoise backspacer to add a subtle pop of color. In case you haven’t handled one of the knives in the 840 Sprint Select series, the contoured and textured glass-reinforced nylon handles on these linerlocks have just enough slip resistance for a good grip without being so grippy they wear out your pocket.
The 3.125” 420 HC stainless steel drop point blade has a blade thickness of 0.12” and a satin finish. Riding on a ball bearing pivot, the action on this flipper is smooth, easy, and quick. This case the finish on these relatively budget-friendly folders is noteworthy and seriously well thought out. They’re 4.5” closed and weigh about 3.2 ounces.
