Most people are familiar with the saying “you get what you pay for,” but that’s not always true. Remington’s sportsman series F.A.S.T 2.0 is a quality working man’s knife for less than a Hamilton.
I know what you’re thinking. What the heck does F.A.S.T stand for? It’s an acronym for Fast Action opening with Soft Touch handles (I guess F.A.O.W.S.T.H wouldn’t have been as appealing). Nevertheless, it stands for exactly what the knife is: a quick spring assist with a comfortable handle.
The 3 ½” blade of the F.A.S.T 2.0 is black-coated 440 stainless steel. I have such a soft spot for blades that open with a satisfying “snap”, and the opening mechanism has no delay in getting this blade open.
The handles are rubber-coated aluminum. The rubber provides a nice grip on the knife while the aluminum reduces weight and maintains durability. Remington designed the handle with Mossy Oak camouflage printed on the handle (looks great, just don’t drop it in the woods). The handle has a good ergonomic feel, and the finger guard was helpful with controlling my cuts.
