Traditional bushcraft knives might not be the first thing you think of when you think of Benchmade, but the new Benchmade Puukko looks like an excellent knife. At a pre-order price of less than $125, we believe Benchmade just might prove as tough a competitor in the Puukko market as they are in the flipper market.
First, this knife has a 3.75” CPM-3V drop point with high flat grind. For those unfamiliar with CPM-3V steel, it is an incredibly tough steel that is highly resistant to chipping or breaking. Additionally, it’s meant to be one of the most wear resistant of all the steels in its class. The only arguable downside is that it is not a stainless steel, so you’ll have to take at least a little care of it.
The overmolded handle houses a full tang and is made of super comfortable, incredibly slip resistant Santoprene. It also has a lanyard hole.
Finally, this knife comes with a leather sheath with multiple carry options. You can go dangler carry or simple belt loop carry because the dangler comes off.
