Benchmade Mini Freek 565-1Check it out, the new Benchmade Mini Freek 565-1 looks seriously stinkin’ awesome. They upgraded the steel and gave this mini beast some seriously sweet looks. The True Red thumbstuds remind us a bit of the 940DLC-1802 but on the super lightweight, pocket friendly 565. They also used black carbon fiber handles and carried the True Red into the barrel spacers. Overall, we love it and can’t wait to get our hands on one.

The Carbon Fiber Mini Freek features a 3” satin finished CPM S90V drop point blade with a blade thickness of 0.104” hardened to a 59-61 HRC. The original Freek was S30V. What’s the difference between these two steels? Benchmade Mini Freek 565-1Well, S90 contains more carbon and about twice as much vanadium. That means it’s tougher, has a tremendous wear resistance, and holds an edge for a long time.

This manual folder is fully ambidextrous and opens with either the AXIS lock or the True Red thumb studs. It has gorgeous carbon fiber handles with True Red barrel spacers and all black hardware which we think gives it a cohesive and eye-catching look. At 4.05” closed and weighing a mere 2.74 ounces, it’s a true pocket chunker that arrives just in time for summer.
