When the Hogue EX-F02 debuted in 2015, it was only offered in A2 tool steel with a black Ceracote finish. Hogue is now offering the EX-F02 in a tumble finish 154CM tool. As Hogue co-owner, Neil Hogue tells us, “One of the great things about the tumbled finish is that it conceals blemishes or scratches on the blade after use as well as being easier to clean… the black Cerakote® look isn’t for everyone, so now there’s another option depending on personal preference.”

The EX-F02’s handles are made of durable GRP (glass reinforced polymer) and bear a swatch of the celebrated Hogue OverMolded® rubber. It’s available in four colors: black, OD green, flat dark Earth, and hunter orange. The EX-F02 feels good in the hand and is quite grippy. The jimping on the top of the handle is perfectly positioned to aid in slip avoidance for those messier jobs.
The accompanying ambidextrous automatic retention sheath is quite ingenious and useful. It has a heavy-duty Hogue design of super-tough nylon, Pull-the-Dot® fasteners, and MOLLE compatible belt loops.
The EX-F02 includes a uniquely designed ambidextrous Automatic Retention Sheath that securely locks the knife in place until it’s released with the simple push of a trigger lever. An audible click ensures the knife is safely locked into place when sheathing the knife. The sheath is backed with MOLLE spaced openings and MOLLE strapping that offer various configurations and compatibility with your other MOLLE gear.
The Hogue EX-F02 is an excellent knife, with excellent build quality and superior function. It’s what we’ve come to expect from Hogue knives, and the EX-F02 did not let us down.
