Emerson design and Kershaw production go together like peanut butter and jelly. They’ve always brought us good, versatile knives, and the CQC-6k is a great EDC for the budget-minded consumer.
The biggest feature this knife has to offer is the Emerson Wave launching system. For those who are not familiar, a hook on the top of the blade latches onto the inside of your pocket. When you pull the knife out, the hook causes the blade to open without needing a spring or secondary assistance. This means you can open the knife as fast as you can draw it from your pocket using only one motion.
The blade is 8Cr13MoV steel and finished in a tactical stonewash coating. It’s a 3 1/4” clip point, which provides versatility in a small package. If the Emerson Wave system isn’t your cup of tea, then no need to worry, there’s also a thumb disc opener for a more traditional opening.
The front scale of the CQC-6k is made of an attractive G-10 while the back scale is steel. Its design is low profile and seamlessly incorporates the frame lock mechanism.
I really believe the CQC-6k is a great candidate for anyone’s EDC, its draw is smooth and the blade is compact and capable. Kershaw and Emerson have a great thing going, and I can’t wait for what’s next.
