Have you seen the Marble’s Game Getter series? For the price point, it’s a great set of knives. They have a good fit and finish, at least one super interesting pattern, and a copper shield. Best of all, they’re less than $15.
First, the super interesting pattern: The Safety Folder. It’s a pattern that’s goes back more than 100 years. If you haven’t played with a Marble’s safety folder before, you simply must. They’re awesome. A giant 4.75” stainless steel blade extends past the handle and rests in a locking blade guard. You open the knife with matchstrike pulls. As the blade comes out, the brass guard moves into place as the blade reaches the fully open position. Finally, you lock the blade in place with the blade guard. The lock completely blocks movement of the blade, meaning it literally cannot fail.
Each knife in this series features imitation stag handles and brass liners. They also have nickel silver ringed bolsters and pins. Finally, the copper shield is beautiful. We expect that over time, they will only get more gorgeous as they develop the patina for which copper is famous.
This series is available in the following patterns: The Safety Folder, Folding Hunter, Trapper, and Large Stockman.
