The new SOG Terminus XR Crimson Red is simply a fun daily-carry knife. We’ve touched on the Terminus last year, but this newer model gets red and switches up the blade steel. At about $50, it’s also a bit more budget friendly.
This Terminus has a cryo quenched D2 tool steel blade with a stonewash finish. It has a subtle clip point shape and measures just shy of 3″. It has a bit of aggressive jimping on the spine that provides a very non-slip surface.
What’s cool about it, you can open it in three different ways. You can use the blade flipper, which SOG calls “Kick Assist”, open it manually with ambidextrous thumb studs, or use the XR lock release to free the blade from its locked position and simply flick your wrist to let the blade flip open.
This model has crimson red G-10 handle scales. They are shaped for comfort and are smooth to the touch. They’re mounted on skeletonized stainless liners. It’s carried with an ambidextrous, deep-carry pocket clip with the SOG logo cut out.
