The Hogue Compound OTF is a USA-made double action automatic and it couldn’t be more impressive. Not only does it look awesome, it’s a serious beast of a knife.
Hogue tells us this hybrid design the “machined 6061-T6 aluminum internal casing is Type III anodized to offer a smooth bearing surface to contact the blade, providing extreme strength during deployed situations.” The handles are honeycomb textured G-10 which provides a tough yet comfortable, slip resistant grip even in slick conditions.
It has an easily accessed ambidextrous, dual action trigger which fires the blade with alacrity. The fidget factor is high with this knife. It comes with an ambidextrous, deep carry tip-down pocket clip. It’s 4.9” closed and weighs 3.6 ounces.
The Compound OTF features a black PVD coated 3.5” CPM S30V clip point blade with a blade thickness of 0.125” that’s been cryogenically heat treated to 58-61 HRC. The hand honed edge comes razor sharp, straight out of the box.
