The KA-BAR D2 Folding Hunter is a solid, reliable lockback. There are two models with this steel available, tan and OD Green. The OD Green version is an SMKW exclusive. The KA-BAR D2 Folding Hunter is modeled after the old model 1189, which was a popular knife because it was a simple, straight forward utilitarian knife. This modern version features a 3.875” D2 clip point blade with a blade thickness of 0.1” and a hollow grind. Although D2 is often considered a semi-stainless steel, it will rust if it’s not properly taken care of. For added corrosion resistance, this knife is titanium nitride coated.
It has G-10 handles are about 0.43” thick and have about the perfect amount of slip resistance while still keeping this knife pocket friendly. The lockback lock-up is solid. It has an ambidextrous, tip-down pocket clip and lanyard hole. It’s 4.875” closed and weighs 5.6 ounces.
