The Smith and Sons Spur is an outstanding small to medium sized fixed blade with a leather multi-mount sheath that’s just about perfect for daily carry. It’s small batch produced and made in the USA by a small, family owned business in Sulpher, Louisiana.
One of the coolest things about this knife might be the multi-mount leather sheath. Smith and Sons tells us it has a “click-in feature which provides extra security over traditional friction fit sheaths.” You actually can feel it when your knife is safely sheathed. It also has a strap which allows either vertical or scout carry without a ton of annoying reconfiguration.
The Spur features a 3.25” AEB-L drop point blade with a blade thickness of 0.1”. AEB-L is a stainless-steel with just enough chromium to provide easy maintenance while still allowing it to take and hold an edge. It has a flat grind, plenty of belly, and an acute point.
It’s a full-tang knife with a skinny neck and a generous palm swell. You have about a 4” grip which is a comfortable fit for most hands. It has a prominent finger guard to help prevent accidental slips. It has a generous lanyard hole and comes with a leather lanyard. It’s 7.25” overall and weighs about 2.36 ounces.
