On this last day of 2017, we wanted to take a minute to reflect on 2017 and what all it brought us here at Knife Newsroom. From new knives to interviews, we covered a little bit of everything. So, before we start wishing each other Happy New Year, let’s have a look at what happened in 2017.

January

2017January’s always a big month in the knife world. SHOT Show happens in Vegas and knife brands begin releasing their new models. In January 2017, CRKT showed us an expanded line of their award-winning Homefront design. TOPS introduced an extra large version of their Bartender Defender, and Zero Tolerance gave us a flipper without a flipper.

February

In February, Kershaw showed us the Malt – a techy looking flipper. TOPS rolled out a Rockies Edition of the ever-popular Apache Dawn. Case showed us Purple Turquoise (who knew there was such a thing). Marble’s returned to its roots and modernized the Marble’s Ideal, and Spyderco released the Delica 4 and the Police 4 to the public.

March

Rough Rider had a glowing march, and Buck combined the 110 and 112 into one exclusive knife. ZT brought us the 0920 – a beauty of a beast, and they showed us that they were going all black on their limited editions for the year with the 0392BLK. And, if that wasn’t enough, Kershaw showed us two great keychain and pack knives.

April

In April, we dug into the TOPS Tracker Digger, and we celebrated our first birthday. We examined the Benchmade Azeria and told you about the expansion of the SOG Kiku series. And, of course, who could forget that Case made sure we knew that Giraffe Bone was actually a thing you could buy in a knife handle.

May

In May of 2017, we decided that Rough Rider’s Pet Groomer tool worked way better as a hipster beard comb and Victorinox Swiss Army showed us that their Alox was olive green this year. Benchmade dropped the Anthem (while others were kneeling for it), and we showed you how you could have some Shenanigans for under $20 each.

June

TOPS brought us El Chete in June. What a beast. I sometimes think they’re trying to see just how much steel they can put in one knife. CRKT Snickered at us, and Benchmade made us drool with the Valet. CRKT rocked the Pilar, and we definitely covered SMKW’s first time sponsorship of Blade Show in Atlanta this year.

July

We got our first look at the Benchmade Bugout and Hidden Canyon Hunter Gold Class. Case reminded us how gorgeous Vintage Stag really is, and Buck and SMKW gave the 112 a serious makeover. TOPS dropped the Tanimboca Puuko – a knife we still can’t pronounce, and Brian Tighe got inspired by flapjacks to create a CRKT knife.

Mora GarbergAugust

In August, Tim Carpenter gave us his first video review from Everyday TacticalVids. Esee showed us the Zancudo and all its glory, and dropped the PR-4 Camp-lore for pre-order. We also showed you the Mora Garberg, the first full tang design from Mora, and we let you know that Case was getting into the bushcrafter’s world with the Case Winkler Skinners.

September

In September, Case taught us all something about PVD (it’s not a disease – shwew!), and showed what an Exotic Sonora Sunset was. Spyderco gave us a Manix 2 Sprint Run, and Benchmade showed us an all new Mini version of the 818 Loco.

Benchmade 818 Mini LocoOctober

TOPS dropped the Steel Eagle Delta Class – a tribute to their original best-seller. Rough Rider showed us what gamblers did when they couldn’t bring their guns into town, and Esee showed us a chunk of steel called the Expat Cleaver. We discovered the Kershaw Grinder, and Tim did another excellent review of the Junglas and a survival kit.

November

Christmas was in full swing as November hit Knife Newsroom. We tried hard to give you options for great gifts this year. We showed you five great knives for outdoorsman, six CRKT knives that should be under a tree, ten hot knives for the holiday season, Kershaw knives for Christmas, and we even threw in a Case for good measure. But, the highlight for November 2017, was when we sent one of our staff to Esee’s Bushcraft Class.

Ten Hot KnivesDecember

And here we are in December – at the end of another great year at Knife Newsroom. We’ve given you advice for your glove box, told you how to make it a Ninja Christmas, and given you great Swiss Army and ZT options for Christmas.

All in all, it’s been a pretty damn good year here at Knife Newsroom. We’d like to thank you for joining us this past year, and we look forward to a Happy New Year with lots more knife news. Happy New Year!
