Hogue EX-A05Prior to the release of the Hogue EX-A05, Hogue stated in a press release “Our X5 folder, which was introduced last year, proved to be so popular that our customers wanted to see the same unique design in an automatic version.” Giving the fans what they want, they released this beast of a knife, and it’s hard to put down.  Our favorite version just might be the modified Wharncliffe. It has interesting blade shape with a single serrate and a ridiculously long cutting edge.

The EX-A05 features a 3.5” CPM-154 stainless steel, modified Wharncliffe blade that opens with a pop by pressing the push-button on the side of the handle. In their efforts to produce autos that will last for years to come and work flawlessly in any environment, Hogue uses proprietary music wire springs designed by spring maker Wolff Gunsprings. The result is fast action with a high fidget factor combined with a dependable lockup.

Hogue EX-A05To keep the blade from deploying when you don’t want it to, the EX-A05 does come with a manual safety. To toggle it, just move the slider to one end to lock the blade down and move it to the other end when it’s time for some fun.

The EX-A05 has hard-anodized aluminum handle scales. They’re contoured for a great grip, and they’re smooth and lightweight. Extras include an ambidextrous tip-down pocket clip with a filler plate, and a lanyard hole for attachments.
