Lynn Thompson (president and founder of Cold Steel) has spent a good amount of time hunting in Africa. The Cold Steel Garden and Camp is Lynn’s interpretation of an African agricultural tool frequently used in the Serengeti. The tool trims grass and weeds, clears brush, helps probe through tall grass, and can aid in self-defense.
The Garden and Camp’s features a unique curved blade. This tool itself features 25″ of 1055 carbon steel that can easily cut through common flora and fauna. As you can see in the video, the curved, sharpened blade really gets through anything (including zombies apparently). Cold Steel added a black, baked-on, anti-rust finish. This helps prevent rust and corrosion when used in less than dry conditions.
The Garden and Camp features a 6 1/2″ polypropylene handle. It has a vivid grip texture molded into the handle, but if the grip texture isn’t enough, there is also a lanyard hole, so you can secure it to your wrist. With lightweight and basic handle materials, the Garden and Camp weighs a mere 1.13lbs. The weight eases fatigue when used over a period of time.
