There’s no secret to the fact that the Editor is fussy about some things. When we waxed poetic about the Rough Rider Smallest of the Small knives, he grumbled mightily at the “cute.”  Behind closed doors, he might have even fussed about the fact that mini knives don’t have the utility of bigger, more grownup knives. However, mini knives are useful. Most will open an envelope and many packages just as well as a full-sized knife. More importantly, they have extreme utility in that they are fun conversation pieces. Here are three miniature knives that might not baton worth anything but are fun, often affordable unique gifts for the knife lover in your life.

The Spyderco Bug is the first of the mini knives on our list of Must Have Minis. Why? Because “oh my goodness you’ve got a bug on you!”  It looks like all the bigger, more expensive Spyderco knives. It’s just teeny and at $13, it’s inexpensive. This wee tiny knife has endless Dad Joke potential that will keep you amused for weeks. Additionally, it’s a sharp knife that significantly outperforms its size.

We love Cold Steel. Of all knife brands, they’re the most funnest. As the winner of the most funnest knife brand, of course they not only have one mini knife, they have two! You know that annoying guy your cousin married who constantly says, “That’s not a knife!” Either of these knives makes the perfect ironic answer.

The Cold Steel Charm pocket knife is a ton of quality in one small slip joint package. It features a 1.25” satin finished S35Vn clip point with polished black micarta handles. The closed length is 1.625”. It’s gorgeous and it’s also sharp straight out of the box. All that combined makes the $60 price point beyond reasonable.
