Spyderco Shaman Z-Wear PM Sprint RunThe new Spyderco Shaman Z-Wear PM Sprint Run is on the way according to Spyderco. This is exceptionally exciting news. The Shaman was originally released in 2018. Spyderco tells us their second Sprint Run in 2019 “with Micarta scales and a CPM CRUWEAR blade was one of the most wildly popular Sprint Runs we’ve ever produced.” The Shaman Z-Wear Sprint is very similar to the CRUWEAR Sprint. We expect the latest iteration with Z-Wear and Micarta will be just as popular and will fly off the shelves just as fast and will eventually be just as challenging to find on the secondary market.

The Z-Wear Shaman is by all appearances the same as the CRU-WEAR Sprint. It has the same contoured brown canvas Micarta handles for both a great look and feel in your hand. It’s fully ambidextrous with a four-position pocket clip and compression lock.

The only real difference between that second Shaman Sprint and this iteration is this version has a satin finished 3.62” Z-Wear PM drop point blade with a full flat grind instead of a CPM CRU-WEAR blade. The chemical composition seems to be about the same with little difference between the two steels. They are both high carbon powdered steel with added tungsten, vanadium, and molybdenum. They both have an incredibly high toughness combined with great wear resistance. The main difference we can see is that CRU-WEAR is made by Crucible and Z-WEAR is made by Zapp.
