What’s different about the Spyderco Stretch 2 Straight Spine Sprint Run? It’s not just the handle color. The whole blade profile on this knife is different from its predecessors. Spyderco tells us, “The highly refined Stretch 2 is the product of decades of evolution and refinement. To celebrate its proud history, this limited-edition Sprint Run expresses it with an ivory-colored fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle and a distinctive straight-spined blade.” But what does that really mean? It means the blade profile on this Sprint Run more closely resembles the wildly popular PM2 but it has a slightly longer slicing edge and a slightly thinner profile.
The Spyderco Stretch 2 Straight Spine Sprint Run features a 3.48” VG-10 clip point blade with a full-flat grind and a blade thickness of just under 0.12”. It has a cutting-edge length of just over 3”. All that means this knife is an incredible slicer. There’s jimping along the thumb ramp for a secure grip, and it opens with Spyderco’s trademark Round Hole.
The ivory fiberglass-reinforced-nylon handles on this lock back are mounted on skeletonized stainless-steel liners. This keeps the weight down to a pocket-friendly 3.8 ounces. It has a four-way hourglass pocket clip for ambidextrous carry and a lanyard hole.
