Phil Wilson designs knives that are inspired by his experience hunting and fishing. The Spyderco Bow River is a take one of his custom knives and was created as an economical choice for outdoorsmen all over the world. It is definitely a budget-offering from Spyderco at around $38. If you’ve already carried one of their folding knives and are looking to test out the performance of their fixed blades, this one may be a good place to start.
The Bow River features an 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade with a satin finish. It has a trailing point blade style that measures just shy of 4.5”. It has a full flat grind and plenty of cutting surface for its size.
It’s just over 8″ overall and has gray and black layered G-10 handle scales secured by pins. They fit excellently in hand. It does have a lanyard tube and comes with a nice leather sheath with a belt loop. For it’s size, the Bow River can even make a good daily-carry knife.
