The Spyderco Siren is a folder designed by Lance Clinton, a professional fisherman that’s been using knives around water most of his life. Spyderco tells us, “That hard-earned experience inspired him to design the Siren-a full-service folding knife optimized for the needs of fishermen and watersports enthusiasts.” The $156 price might not put this on any budget lists, but great grip, resistance to rust, and an overall practical blade make this one worth looking into.
The Siren has an almost-rust proof LC200N steel, drop point blade that locks open with a stout back lock. This ambidextrous knife uses Spyderco’s trademark Round Hole, so it’s a breeze to open one-handed. That definitely comes in handy when fumbling around with a fishing rod or other gear in the other hand while trying to land that next trophy catch.
When you’re in a wet environment, you’ll probably want a knife with some texture to it. The Siren features course-textured G-10 handle scales with an integral guard and blue accented liners which give it a great pop of color. It’s carried on the left or right side with an ambidextrous, tip-up wire pocket clip.
