The big and beefy Spyderco Subvert was designed by Israeli custom knifemaker Nati Amor. This pocket chunker is a production version of his custom Sabotage flipper knife, which is an impressive knife in its own right. The former custom jewelry maker lends his design to this Spyderco. With a unique blade shape and a big overall length of 9.25″, this is one hefty knife that’s well worth checking out.
The Subvert is a stout linerlock with a 4.14” CPM-S30V drop point with a blade thickness of 0.157″ and a full flat grind. It opens with Spyderco’s Trademark Round Hole, and that opening is super smooth and easy with the twin ball-bearing pivot washers. The broad profile combined with the long slicing edge ensures maximum cutting power while the sturdy build ensures overall durability.
It has a firm foundation with skeletonized titanium liners and highly visible orange G-10 handle scales that are milled for both comfort and easy use. A gray pivot cap adds to the overall color contrast in the design that coordinates beautifully with the partially exposed, matte finished liners. It also has a polished stainless steel pocket clip and lanyard hole.
